My super-duper, stuffed full of pumpkin filling goodness, melts in your mouth and not in your hands, pumpkin pie. It tasted delicious. Mom ate a huge bit of it. I ate a huge bit of it. Aubree did too. If you notice, this is just one pie. I cooked two today.
Although the edges of the pie kind of look a bit burned, it’s actually not. I thought it was too but it kind of caramelized on the edges of the crust, it tastes darn good. Most of all, I can hardly wait to have another big ol’ slice tomorrow! Damn I love Pumpkin pie. However, I do love Sweet Potato pie more, but I don’t think anyone sells that filling in a can. :-/
Pie making isn’t all that made this day great. You see, I took today off for a series of mommy/daughter time with Monkey. Okay, a big part of it was for my sanity as well. I get really grumpy when I get over worked, so I took some time to relieve some of that work stress by having fun! Most of it was fun for Monkey, though. She ate pie, we watched disk two from season one of Alf, then we carved her pumpkin for her. We lit a pumpkin candle and put it in there so she could watch it as it lit up. Nothing was more exciting for her today, I would think. She’s really getting into this stuff now that she’s almost 4 years old and it’s great to see her enjoy it so much. Heck, it’s about time Halloween started to come back around because she has been asking me to take her trick-or-treating since last Halloween!!
Then, of course, the title here. It’s true, pie baking burned my arm and I cut myself with the knife while working on the pumpkin. It’s nice to have a way to remember a great moment… but I do not recommend injury. I just a bit unlucky when it comes to that stuff. I can’t bake without burning myself, so that was a given. Didn’t expect to cut my hand, though. Kids… this is why you need to make sure the knife always points at the PUMPKIN.
Most of all, I am going to go now. I have a few more minutes before I can go to bed but I am just thankful I was able to get a moment to write in here. Nothing like a blog post to round off a great day like today.

You have no idea how busy I’ve been these last 2 days. Yesterday it was 60% work and 40% life tasks.
Actually, yesterday I had to run to town, get money, pay more against what I owe for my truck, then came home to finish working.
Granted, today is much busier than it was yesterday. I don’t think I’ve really sat here and not been working in some way or another.
There is one trend I seem to notice when I clock how long I’ve worked in one day. I work approximately 6 to 6 1/2 hours a day. That isn’t an 8 hour job, but it is a lot of time spent sitting. Then if you enter in the fact that I only go distraction-free for 6 or so of those hours (4 while Monkey is at school, 2 after she’s asleep), then maybe you’ll see why I feel like I work full days.
Nothing will ever compare to working with Aubree home. A 6 hour job suddenly takes me 8 or more. Monkey is only on her 3rd week in school, yet I am starting to wonder what I’m going to do when she’s out for vacations and such.
Anyone who thinks you can work with kids running around is insane
I recently guest posted for Amy Derby with tips on how to keep a child occupied while writing. The tips are completely true, and very useful but anyone can tell you nothing works as you want it to all of the time.
Yes, I love fooling Monkey into behaving with crayons and a coloring book. No, it doesn’t always work. Some days she is a bit more, “Hay mommy…” than others. That’s life with a child.
Oh, and if you think someone is less passionate about freelance writing because they have children - NEVER. They may freelance to be home with their kids, but how much do you want to bet they love what they do?
I do.
Working regularly, day after day, on the same tasks does get tiring but I’ll be darned - I love every minute of it.
If I was given the option to quit and still be set for life, I would say yes and work anyway. :-p What? I love what I do, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have enough money to live on forever, either.

Back when I first really started coming online, there were e-cards everywhere. Zillions upon zillions of free e-cards that people would send to each other.
Then one day people simply stopped sending them out.
Of course, they’re not extinct. Many of those services stopped letting their cards be used for free, others just dropped out of the e-card world, then there are some that are still free. Yahoo is a good example of that with their website at American Greetings.
Is the e-card business coming back anytime soon? Maybe it will, but I highly doubt it’d be anything like it was back when I first popped up on the internet. Only time could tell. It does offer an opportunity for someone with graphic design abilities to create a little business of their own, but I doubt it’d ever beat out the printed card business.

Okay, so you may have noticed I am still altering my posting style a little but that is not the point of today’s post. The point today is… finding a great working, low MB, word processor.
I had written out a business opportunity profile and when it came time to save it Microsoft Works Word Processor failed me. It kept telling me it couldn’t save the file, yet my flash drive wasn’t full. When I gave up trying to save onto that, it wouldn’t even save it to my computer.
I’ll be darned, I have no clue why it has failed me now.
I’d never had a problem with it before, so it’s absolutely beyond me why it had decided to kick the bucket on me. Plenty of memory left on my computer. One drive isn’t even near half full, the other is only 10% full out of 160gb. We’re good.
After I got tired of fighting with it and finally just switched it over to Wordpad so I could save it, I went hunting for free word processors.
Yes, I already know about OpenOffice.org and what they have to offer. I also know that the file size to download is beyond huge and it would knock out my net if I tried. The MB size of the file is 3/4ths of my daily allowance.
Thankfully I spelled processor wrong in my search, I spelled it processer - haha, because it lead me to AbiWord 2.6. It was just over 5mbs to download and the tools/plugins took less than a second to download.
I used AbiWord to write another profile and set up the interview that I had to post today. It worked just as I needed it to. There was only one little annoyance I noticed. Although the program checks your grammar, it doesn’t set up correction ideas for the areas they underline with that annoying green line. As much as I love to write, it is nice to know why they feel a sentence isn’t grammatically correct. Especially considering grammar is my personal Kryptonite.

If you do not know what Abecedarian means, look it up. It really does seem to fit today’s post.
My little girl went to school today. It was her first day, as the caption for the photo above mentions. She looked so cute, and she was so excited. I walked her up to the bus and said goodbye. I turned around and walked to the house, where those tears just kind of hit me.
You know how a sneeze will sneak up on you? That’s how my tear dam burst. I was perfectly fine until I turned around and walked back to the house. I cried a little, then got to work on my tasks for the day.
When she got home her face was blue. From what I’ve gathered from her, she must have eaten a cupcake. She said she put together a puzzle with someone else, and that she had fun today. Right now she’s just really tired acting and laying in the living room watching a movie. I could imagine it was an exhausting day.
She’s only 3, but I’ll be darned… she’s growing up fast. This is just the first year of many years of school she’ll have to go through.
I would like to say I completely missed her during the day, but honestly I am so busy working that it’s only a little bit of that feeling I have. I spent my 4 1/2 hours (would be 5 but I need to account for time spent waiting for the bus both ways) head first in writing and other important tasks I really needed to get done today. Gosh it was nice. I need to get as much as possible done on the 4 days she’s at school so Friday will go much more smoothly with her home.
It’s a sad thing watching my little girl grow up before my eyes, but I think she’s going to continue to love school. Not to mention I shouldn’t have a problem getting used to that quiet time and enjoying it.

Picture Of The Day
That tent belongs to Monkey. It’s made to look like a tree house, that’s boots up on the front there, but she can go inside and play.
Inside her tent Monkey has 3 toy boxes, her Dora table and her Dora doll house. Can we say spoiled 3 year old? On the outside she has a giant teddy bear that resembles Winnie The Pooh and another box filled with books.

Picture Of The Day
Although this is not me today it is basically the look on my face after the long day I have had. I am tired, and generally pooped. I am glad tomorrow is the last day of moving stuff out of the old house as it is the last day of this month. Next it’s the unpacking process. There is a lot of that to do as well.
Wish me luck.

I made pancakes for breakfast a few days ago and this is what it looked like after being cut then having syrup added. The picture makes it look burnt and it actually wasn’t. They came out yummy ‘n fluffy. I’ll have to make some for breakfast this weekend.

I call this my Legal Mouse Pad. Why? Well, that’s a legal pad with my to-do list written on it and I also use this same legal pad as my mouse pad. Nothing is better than something that offers multi-uses. I should make a prototype styled mouse note pad and patent it… naw. I have too much to do now as it is.
However, my idea is a free-for-all. Feel free to steal it.

Photo Of The Day
Since I am going to back out of the product review feature I had been doing, I just had to make it my photo of the day at the very least. The coffee pictured here is the Signature Blend found at the very top of this page. The bag of coffee I have above is only half full and originally was only 12oz, the coffee is sold in 2lb bags on the website.
Anyway, that’s some delicious stuff and definitely worth the cost if you want to try some.
The coffee gets a 5 out of 5 from me.
