Absquatulate

If you’re wondering why I would use a bad photo of myself for the photo on this post, please know there is a reason. I cut my bangs this morning, and that’s my attempt to show it off. They’d gotten long enough to tuck behind my ear. When they reach that length it doesn’t look right, so I had to do what I had to do.

Today’s Word Nerd Quote:

absquatulate is a blend of abscond, squattle (’depart’), and perambulate”

It’s running into a late night for me. I wanted to get here sooner but I got distracted by checking up a few things on Write To Press. While I was getting some work done today I realized that one of the writing services I could offer would be proofreading/editing services. It fit into the category. So with that idea, I updated my services page so that people could see what else I have available.

Now is where I talk about things in the news that I found interesting and just wanted to mention here.

What I am sharing tonight made me angry to read. This woman is a single mom of 4, she had 5 children but one died. She didn’t even have enough money to put a down payment on her child’s tombstone. Yet when she was moving from her current employer to a new place of work, her employer docked her pay $400 and claimed she advised her own parents to move from their facility. A good samaritan in this article is giving the woman a $100 check.

My heart goes out to this woman. She does not deserve what has been done to her, and I hope she seeks advice from an attorney.

If you’re wondering why I stopped at one, it’s because I don’t want this to become an all news all the time post. I noticed when I tried to talk about something I liked in the past, that is what it became. I want to change that and so I will choose only one news item a post to talk about. Like today, I also want to make sure it’s something I have strong feelings about.

A short while back I noted Kemby as an Inspiring Business (here). The two women that started the business are some of the nicest people I have ever had the opportunity to meet by email. I interviewed them about their business for someone I do work for, which went very well. Their responses were great and it was all around a good experience.

I’m not 100% I have a point here, I just really wanted to acknowledge them again. Especially after some kind words they offered about my writing skills. I wish both women the best of luck in their business.

I know it’s only Tuesday, but my week hasn’t been looking half bad. So far so good, it’s been going by pretty fast and I’ve been walking away the instant I am done with any work-related things for a break. It also gives me a good long period of time to sit and play with my daughter. Whether it’s in the house or outside. Although I seriously need to remember to put the bug spray on us before we go outside.

Tonight when I took her out to play even I was getting eaten up. I know that if I am, she must be. For every bite I get, she has 3. We didn’t stay out long for that reason.

It has run late so I am going to end this here. I’ll be back tomorrow evening with some more ‘pearls of wisdom’ or anything else you’d like to call my thoughts and findings. Until later.
