My Walkin’ Shoes

Today’s picture is one of Aubree’s new sandals. She had a pair of sandals, but they had a bad habit of falling off her feet every few steps. A real pain in the butt when we’re walking through a store. So I picked these up for her. They have the back with the thing that goes around the ankle to hold them on. No more shoe losing for us this summer. Also, with her obsession over Dora, she’s bound to like them. She already seems to. She’s wearing them now for no reason at all.

Last night I heard a quote on the news that I first thought was, “Their are more important things to worry about than violence and video games.”

That prompted me to think about how someone could find violence to not be worth worrying about right now. Then I realized something, how much you want to bet I misheard the person on the news? How much you want to bet that and was actually the word in?

Then that made me think about how one little word can completely change the meaning of a phrase. I don’t know if the person actually said and or in, I never reheard that phrase in the news since. If it was a misunderstanding on my part, not the person who said it, then I have to wonder if I’m the only person who heard the word and when they were listening to the news.

I think writing is going well for me lately. I could use some more business opportunities that I can write about. The problem is having enough information on the biz op to write about them. I don’t always have enough info. I emailed one once and they never replied. They had only a small paragraph on what they offer.

Anyway, I was able to get something on one biz op, a decent amount of information once I swam through the bull promotion stuff on owning your own business. Without good information even if it’s covered in bull, it’s impossible to write something informative about a biz op.

I did, however, get two very good interviews and was able to post them yesterday. One of them is another giveaway, the other is just an interview. Either way, they were both good I think. I really enjoy interviewing new WAHM’s. I’ve long since learned that about 99% of them have the same answer for how they manage to run a business and take care of their family. Every so often, though, I get an answer that is way out of left field when compared to the usual answers I get. I love those.

I think I have something like 8 interviews out waiting for reply right now. They’re quite slow.

I’ve been doing my math lately and if I could get 10 $2 posts up a day - 5 days a week, I would make $100 a week. Do you know how helpful that would be? As soon as I receive some more biz ops to write about, I will. Although I might find myself digging for them myself just so I don’t have to wait on a list any longer. I am ready to get started and to writing more.

On Write To Press I haven’t received any more messages from people interested in a free press release. I am a little disappointed. On the other hand, I just need to promote some more. The one I finished last week, she was nice. She told me she liked it and that she’d let people know about my services. So if one person likes my work, I’m hoping some more people will come in and give me a try to find that they like my work too. Once I start selling press releases, I am charging $30 a release and it has the potential of earning me a decent monthly wage.

I actually have some more promoting I need to do. I recently wrote a great article I’d like to submit to some free article websites where it’ll help promote my services a little while using a large article on small business advertising. I will probably spend some of my time during the day today to do that. I need to get the word out some more to bring in some new customers. When I have a little extra money, I’m probably going to invest in google adwords. We’ll see on that one, though.

My last resort would be offering my services to small businesses directly. Finding a couple that are small and look like they would benefit from a press release.

I think I might have just thought up a decent idea in words. I’d offer my services for free in return for using the release as an example. I might have to take that proactive approach to help with bringing in some real customers, not just free pr takers.

I have to get going for the day. My stomach says it’s breakfast time. Until later.

The Tulip Thing To Do

Today’s photo is what is believed to be a tulip in our flower bed. It opened up like that, completely, for a day. Now it stays only partially opened like what a tulip generally looks like. I think it’s just too pretty. All those great colors in one flower. The red, orange and yellow. This is the first year, since I planted the bulb, that it has bloomed and it looks just beautiful.

I absolutely hate lawn mowing. But it needed mowed so I had to mow it. The only thing is that lawn mowing usually leads to me catching poison ivy. Hopefully I won’t. If I do I will know that I have take extra precautions all summer long to avoid it. That generally means a shower as soon as I walk through the door. I hate doing that because usually the instant I walk through the door I don’t feel like doing anything but sit and drink cold water. I think it takes a little over an hour to mow our whole yard. It doesn’t look that big, but it feels big while being mowed.

I think I just figured out how to solve my head set problem for my mp3 player. The strange plug I need to find for headphones is the plug that exists for phone headsets. Go figure. Now that I know that, I’ll have to see what I can find to replace the bum earbuds.

And I am very tired, so I am going to bed now. See you Tuesday. Until later.

WAHM News: Mompreneurs Online

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mompreneurs Online Helps Moms Take their Businesses to the Top

Scarsdale, NY (April 22, 2008)—Each weekday morning, entrepreneur Leslie Haywood drops her two daughters off at preschool, then races to her computer to log on to her favorite bookmarked website, MompreneursOnline.com. Haywood, the inventor of a barbecuing accessory called Grill Charms, can’t wait to rejoin the ongoing conversation on the site’s dynamic message boards, where regulars and newbies gather to seek business advice, exchange ideas, and support each other’s entrepreneurial endeavors. Haywood is drawn to MompreneursOnline.com for its nurturing atmosphere, as well as the winning advice offered from its founders: leading work-from-home experts, Ellen Parlapiano and Patricia Cobe, authors of the Mompreneurs® series of books.

Parlapiano and Cobe coined, popularized, and trademarked the term “Mompreneurs®” over a decade ago, after writing the first Mompreneurs® book, speaking at entrepreneurial conferences nationwide, and consulting on work-from-home initiatives for corporations like AT&T. The dynamic duo built their Mompreneurs® brand on iVillage in the late 90s, before launching MompreneursOnline.com in 2004.

As the guiding force behind this supportive site, Cobe and Parlapiano moderate the discussions and foster a rare cooperative spirit that sets it apart from other women’s communities on the Web. “At MompreneursOnline I got the encouragement to pursue my passion and turn my crazy idea into a viable business,” says Haywood. “And the other moms on the message boards did more than cheer me on. I found my wholesale and fulfillment center here and met my graphic designer, mentors, vendors, and customers.”

My Chocolate Animal Crackers

This is another picture of the lake. Nothing special.

Aubree seems to have a bit of the devil in her today. To put it nicely. From the instant she woke up this morning she poured her milk on the table and played in it. Then she put the roll of toilet paper in the toilet. The second time out she actually fell asleep. Who am I to complain? I love these early morning naps she takes sometimes. They don’t keep her awake later at night like the afternoon ones do.

Aubree doesn’t usually get up until 8am and she was wide awake before mom left for work so I am wondering if maybe she just got up too early. I hope the nap puts her in a better mood.

As for todays post title, they are my chocolate animal crackers and hands off. I have a soft spot for very very bad things. Reeses cups, snickers bars, and other sugary/chocolaty things. Chocolate animal crackers are the only “cookie” I’ve found that can curb that craving for me and at a portion of the calorie cost.

What can I say? I can’t give up sugar completely.

The last two days were a little hectic work wise. It’s just trying to get everything done. Today will be a fun catch up for the little things that got knocked out of my schedule.

This darn lawn is going to mowed soon. I don’t like that. I don’t want to do it. When I mow the lawn I break out with poison ivy. Another summer of being covered in it is going to suck really bad. Actually I recently had and got over poison ivy from tearing down what I thought was a dead vine of it. I guess not. Touching it to get it off the house made me break out.

On the other hand, mowing the lawn means mom has to watch Aubree while I do it. That’s as close to alone time as I’m going to get. At least I can sweat off some of fat or something while at it. First will be picking up the dead sticks all over the front yard, though.

Soon… :(

A few years back I dug up a tulip bulb that was in the middle of our yard, I kept mowing over what was obviously a tulip plant. So I got the bulb out of the ground and planted it in our flowers. That was about 2 years ago and for the first time I now have a tulip. It’s so pretty. It’s got red and yellow in it. Almost making it orange in some spots.

The tulip isn’t the only growing plant. The tiger lily’s have sprouted, so have the other flowers. It’s spring, finally. And it’s beautiful.

I need to go get other work done. Come back Saturday for WAHM Saturday! Until later.

Tuesday, Oh Gracious Tuesday

Today’s picture is of our local lake access. I think it looked nice. Aubree walked down there Sunday just for the hell of it. It’s not a terrible walk, but it is long for 3yr old legs. Wore her right out so that she went to sleep pretty easily that night. Since then she’s been asking for more walks and I agree. It would be nice. If I didn’t have to go to town to dry laundry tonight I was going to go for a nice walk today. We’ll probably go tomorrow.

I was thinking the other day on how nice it would be if we had a park around here for kids. We have nothing. Just a blinking light for a town, of course we don’t have anything. If we did, though, maybe the kids around here wouldn’t turn out to be the crooks many of them are.

The closest park we have around here is the little “playground” I have going on in our side yard. Swing set and other things she can climb on. All yard sale stuff so at least it didn’t cost the price of a park. Now I just have to find a way to keep the bees from making a home in her swing set. I already had to spray to kill them this year. They’re starting early.

Last night I had the worst food possible. Pizza. Well Pizza Hut’s stuffed crust pizza with bacon and pepperoni on top. My favorite. It tasted delicious too. I’ll definitely be avoiding it again for a long time. Heart attack in a box. The worst stuff seems to taste the best.

Life in my world is not exciting right now. Of course that can be viewed as a good thing, or a bad thing. Until later.

Down With The Reign Of Dora

So what is today’s photo? That’s a tractor with a pickup truck pulling a boat and another vehicle all stuck behind eachother at 35ish in a 55 zone. Once we all passed the tractor we were stuck behind that pickup truck pulling a boat that I mentioned. And he did 40 in a 55 zone. Then I was stuck behind them until I was at my turn. This turned a 10 minute trip into 15 minutes. I normally wouldn’t care except I actually had plans.

Either way, you must have noticed I posted my own press release yesterday for WAHM Saturday. I hadn’t seen any new press releases for wahm businesses last week so I took that chance to promote myself a little. It fit anyway. :)

Now I just have to bring in some business. Wish me luck.

I am tired today. I got up earlier than I had to. Aubree wet the bed. She doesn’t have accidents often but they happen. And those early occasions make me tired.

Tonight will hopefully be a short night, unless I take a quick nap. I have a press release I would like to get started on that’s for someone. To get a rough draft shouldn’t take me all night, though. So I can go to bed a little early. Then the next day I can go back over it when I wake up and polish it up a little before I send it off to the person it’s for. It’s kind of nice to be able to work at my own pace for once. I’m generally on a schedule which isn’t bad but having a little more leeway to wait until the next day before finishing it up means I come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes.

Some of my best writing is done when I can sleep on it and go back later to touch it up. Makes it easier for me to give 100%.

I am a little mad at my phone right now. I had the $20 in my phone account for the next month fee for unlimited texting. Their was no option for paying it so I figured it was automatic until the time passed and it started taking money out of my account per text and such. By the time I noticed I was below $20 in my account so I couldn’t do a switch plan to the plan I already had. I had to buy the 1000 text option instead which sucks. With IM and email, I can do a lot more than that per month. I’m just glad I know how to avoid this problem in the future at least. Lesson learned. :)

I have some writing to do for Ask Angel now, before my mom gets home, but I will be back on Tuesday if I have enough time. Mom is home Tuesday - Wednesday and I don’t always make it to posting here on those days unless I get lucky. I will try, though. Until later.

WAHM News: Write To Press

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

New Press Release Service Promotes The Importance Of Press Releases For Small Businesses

Trying to make her way in the world of writing, Angel takes on the task of writing press releases and talks about why it’s important for small businesses to not over look the importance of a good, quaility press release.

Coldwater, MI, April 19th, 2008 - For many new businesses, they don’t find out how important it is to have a well-written press release until it’s too late. For others, the idea of having a press release written to promote their new product or service just doesn’t cross their mind. What they don’t realize is that the press release can make or break their business.

Writing a good press release and submitting it to the right sources can bring in a sizable amount of press which converts itself into new customers or curious visitors. With the right press release people will want to use it on their websites and in their newspapers. Thus spreading the word even farther with no more effort than having had one release written. It takes the talent of a good writer and someone who knows what they’re doing to create that successful effect.
